About the book: (from the publisher) Using multiple personas, Lucias Maddox Moore followed Meagan Winston on her travels for three years, learned from her ability to smile and make friends, and gained confidence as he began his international drug trade. He needs to show Meagan how much she means to him.

Meagan Winston loves working at Rahab’s Rope in Gainesville, Georgia, selling jewelry and other creative items made by rescued trafficked women in India. On each of her journeys to Mumbai the past few years, however, drugs have also made the trip, and she is the only connection the FBI can find.

When bulky former Marine Cole Fleming enters her shop demanding answers, Meagan at first refuses but eventually is taken in for questioning. Can Meagan trust her own heart as Cole discovers and begins to track a possible stalker, or is Cole the man secretly following her?

A novel combining strong message with suspense, THE SHADOW by Kimberly Rae @TheBlogAbout

My take: What I liked  most about The Shadow is the spotlight this novel shines on a very real problem of human trafficking, as well as the very real organization that purposes to be part of the real-life solution. This added an element of realism to the story.

The Shadow offers much of what you might expect in a suspense novel. Clear-cut good and bad guys. Ratcheting stakes. An overarching sense of menace amid a swiftly moving plot. It provides a good, clean fun for those who enjoy inspirational romantic suspense, with protagonists that are appealing, if somewhat familiar. It did strike me as a story geared for youthful readers, as it doesn’t have the emotional subtlety typically found in adult-targeted novels.

Recommended for fans of the genre who also appreciate an important message.
